Review of The Mirror of the Soul by Elizabeth Mueller

In the dark of the night, a mysterious light streaks across the black sky and hits the ground with a glowing impact. A lone peasant and his dog investigate and are stunned to see a gift from Heaven. Because of this object’s very nature, this man delivers it in good faith to the Abbey where the monks are restless and poor from lack of donations. This is when the abbot is inspired to use the celestial rock’s beauty to gain control, but soon, it spins out of control and turns into something ugly.

As I read Mirror of the Soul, I easily became lost in the pages as the many characters endure faith-testing trials. Some fail miserably, some hang by the proverbial thread while for others, it’s not a question of if neither when.

My favorite part is each time Morgan mentions the trio of best friends who are bored teenagers as they roam the village, getting into things they shouldn’t. Unbeknownst to them, they accidentally unravel the deep secret of the abbey.

J. Lloyd Morgan is one of my favorite authors! He has the knack, the ability to get into the hearts and minds of the characters and breathes into them as they jump to life on the pages right before my eyes. He never fails to weave a complicated line of excitement with intrigue and romance along with injustice and justice locking head-to-head as he does in The Mirror of the Soul. I love the way his mind works.

Wall of Faith review by TheBookStalker.net

Remarkable, incredibly realistic & thoroughly written.  Morgan unites wit and charm in this outstanding book which teaches lessons that will last a lifetime.  Every choice you make has an effect in various and far-reaching ways and forgiveness is the key to feel relief and peace.  Characters were realistic and uncomplicated making them easy to support and bond with, especially Elder James Williams.

This book was read at a time when I questioned my own faith in certain things…and yes even humanity.  In writing this book, Morgan proficiently exceeded expectations and helped me to reestablish the much needed commitment I’d misplaced.  More importantly all ages and stages of life can relate to and find one or more common threads to validate on their own.  After turning the final page - I had rebuilt my Wall of Faith!

Worth your time

It is full of forbidden love, sneaky plans, sword fights, and hidden messages. The author did a wonderful job wrapping the audience up in the love stories as well as throwing in some super action packed moments. You will find yourself cheering for the underdog while also receiving some very good life lessons.

“The Waxing Moon” review by Donna Sorenson

I enjoyed this second book of the Bariwon Chronicles even more than the first. Lots of action, intrigue, and the perfect bit of romance. I’m looking forward to the next installment in the series.

“The Hidden Sun” review by Carrie A.

I was so incredibly pleased to discover that the quality of The Hidden Sun is what I expect. It is a well-crafted story in an intriguing world with well-thought out characters. Every character and every scene, and pretty much every detail was there in the right place to move the story along. Plus, I am rarely surprised by where books take me and this story managed to do so. It showed me that what I thought the story was about at first glance, was actually just a portion of the whole.

I would and will recommend this book to my family and friends.
